seattle viaduct tunnel plan

The Seattle waterfront is preparing for a major renovation with a new transit tunnel and beautifying the area. Whether or not supported the tunnel option, replacing the viaduct or replace the street surface, it is certainly time to start something.

Seattle Dam on the front Sea has been constructed in the marshes. The filler material supporting the viaduct and adjacent structures is known to be unstable and subject to change with time. Small marine creatures were boring through the dam for years, have reduced the strength and affect the underlying support of the street and the sidewalk along the docks in port.

This week a visitor to the waterfront fell into a chasm opened in the pavement. As the man walked near the pier at dawn on 4-inch concrete sidewalk was replaced with an empty pocket created by the movement of fill soil. Although the man was rescued immediately, the incident could have been much worse.

The excitement building in downtown Seattle has created an even stronger need for a re-structuring of the Seattle waterfront. As the city grows, there will be no transport and car traffic in downtown Seattle. Thousands of new condominiums and apartment dwellers want to spend time on the waterfront dock, and security not only important for individuals but also the financial responsibility of the city.

There will probably be made engineering studies satiety before building the tunnel. Seattle is known as a city that values process over results. We vote 5 times before doing anything. Hopefully we have the best possible analysis, and we put this analysis to work quickly. Our waterfront needs some work, and quickly.
