Avoid the airport in the Pacific Northwest – Amtrak Cascades Review
When traveling on vacation you have to clear a path through the airports of many people? Depending on where you come from and where will the answer is no qualified
We took a cruise from Los Angeles, California to Vancouver, British Columbia, at the Royal Caribbean Vision of the Seas (Review here) and a night cruise from Vancouver, British Columbia to Seattle, Washington, Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Star and had to return home to Portland, Oregon. Most people jump on a plane and do not believe that their alternatives. Well, Washington and Oregon along the I-5, Cascades option corridor and a half hours in the air, and then another 30 minutes waiting for our travel bags or 10 minutes from the Amtrak station, wait 15 minutes for the train, spend 3 hours and half on the railroad, taking our bags and leave. As time goes on air with respect to time by rail is almost a piece of paper, while that is real-time travel by rail as much time in airports and the road leading out on the same facts by rail. We have therefore chosen to take the train and we do not regret our choice from now when we have to get to Seattle, Portland and we will always take the train.
The Amtrak Cascades travels a scenic route across the Pacific North-West Vancouver, British Columbia to Eugene, Oregon past Mount St. Helens in the Columbia Gorge. Amtrak Cascades is operated and funded in collaboration with the states of Oregon and Washington, giving residents and visitors of the Pacific Northwest, a viable alternative to air transport.
The beauty of choice is at the train station is located in Seattle and Portland, unlike airports, usually found in a location outside the way station is in the middle, this is true in most places that Amtrak goes.
Once we disembarked from the Star of Norway We left the Seattle Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 and took a taxi right in front. There was a porter "unofficial" taxis working, a nice young man who seemed to be working just to help people get advice and loaded their luggage, do not know how the cruise lines and taxi drivers see these maneuvers, but has not won a point that help us to get a taxi quickly resolved. The driver takes us straight to the train station is 10 minutes or less drive from the cruise terminal.
We checked our bags with the porters and waiting for the Amtrak train shortly before the arrival of Amtrak trains staff assigned us seats and the the train arrival time. When the train arrived everyone went to their assigned vehicles at a leisurely pace. We boarded, found our places, resolved in a few minutes. The train left on time.
Each sample of cars on the roof showing first the case in the train route that currently, once the train passed the final Seattle / Tacoma Metro stop began a movie on this screen.
During the trip from Seattle to Portland, I could use my cell phone for Internet companies in the entire trip, every seat has an outlet for connecting the equipment and labor, which is certainly something that could not make a map.
At one point he left our car to car bar serving food and beverage offerings Pacific Northwest, including meals, snacks, beer and beer.
The trip was quiet and relaxed, we had incredible views and were able to relax throughout the journey. Once we arrived in Portland in the Union of baggage claim and our bags station were ready for us by the front door and in our career. The trip was much easier and enjoyable when all the flights could have been.
