Considering relocating from Denver to Seattle, advice?

Me: Software engineer 30 years, a graduate degree. As generally prefer the quiet suburbs or neighborhoods of the city. Nearby cities should I consider? Job market ills should I know? Bad / Good companies to work? General living for? (Floods, heavy rains, depression) or I can give personal experience on this site. Thanks!

I moved from Colorado Springs in Issaquah, Washington (a few miles east of Seattle). Redmond, Bellevue and Issaquah are all good depending on where you work. If you are going to be Microsoft you probably you know its main campus in Redmond. We have a lot of gray days, but rain is rarely heavier than a net. Depression is a problem for some people the winter months, because our days are so short (It happens that one of them), I use full spectrum fluorescent in all machines in my house. There are some problems with occasional floods, but if you keep an eye on weather reports, you usually well in advance, attention is undoubtedly heavier occasional snow Denver. It is more expensive to live here in Denver, but is also more cosmopolitan and cultural activities, most of Denver, particularly in the vicinity of the University of Washington Seattle campus. Western Washington (meaning the western part of the Cascade Range) is considerably more liberal than most of Colorado, if good or bad for you, of course. Despite the gray days and rain here, I love it. We are entering the spring, and is absolutely beautiful here!
