To Kill a Mockingbird – 3 Stars (Good)

Gregory Peck won an Oscar for best actor in this adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winner Harper Lee novel white lawyer Atticus Finch defending an innocent black man accused of raping a white woman.

It is a story that illuminates everything that is not hate, prejudice, intolerance, ignorance, stupidity, lack of backbone and lack of a heart. It is a story about a jury composed exclusively of whites who make decisions major life without thinking on matters of law and good.

Finch (Gregory Peck) suffered retaliation for his defense of Tom Robinson (Brock Peters), who is accused Mayell raping Violet Ewell (Collin Wilcox). The real culprit is her father Bob Ewell (James Anderson), who beats her and attempts to kill Finch's daughter Scout (Mary Badham), a son Jem (Phillip Alford).

Scout tells the story of her childhood memories. She and Jem teamwork with their friend Dill Harris (John Megna) in a subplot participation "Boo" Radley (Robert Duvall), who eventually saves Scout and Jem from Bob Ewell Ewell kill with his own knife.

Sheriff Heck Tate (Frank Overton) would later say that Ewell fell on his own knife. Tate knew that Ewell has two legs and bad news to come in the form of a human being fanatical, not would not be charges brought against Boo.

Ultimately, the innocent Tom Robinson is convicted and shot dead while trying to flee from injustice.

It is ironic that this story takes place in 1932 in Macon County, Georgia, a black pit of racist hatred, even in 1962 when the film was released.

To Kill a Mockingbird shows that some people will never discernible personal growth in your life, thank God than others.

Boo, a scary recluse who never left of the evening was the movie starring Duvall. Duvall apparently stayed out of the sun for six weeks and dyed blond hair in preparation for the role.

Dill is the model of a childhood friend of author Harper Lee Truman Capote. Finch is the name of the father of Harper Lee.

Horton Foote, who wrote the screenplay for To Kill a Mockingbird, has won an Oscar and the film also won for best guidance document for a black and white film. The film won 5 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, won by Lawrence of Arabia, starring Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif.

Gregory Peck picked up the Globe Award for Best Actor and the film also won another to promote international understanding. Peck said that this film is his favorite thing.

His character Atticus Finch was voted the top screen hero of the last 100 years by the American Film Institute. This is really a no-spin honor. To Kill a Mockingbird is also ranked No. 2 on AFI's 100 Most Inspiring Films of All Time (It's a Wonderful Life, with James Stewart is No. 1).

The test of how emotional Kill a Mockingbird is only Brock Peters (the accused) that began to mourn, of course, during filming the scene of the testimonies. Gregory Peck said he had to look ahead to avoid choking himself.

The racial bigotry is a very emotional event and hatred that continues to hang out with us today. If there is a God of love who is colorblind, the evil would be even deeper and more destructive.

To Kill a Mockingbird is as relevant today as it was when released. Each generation must work for the progress of the past sins of past generations. Tom Robinson May rest in peace knowing that their descendants then have a better system of justice.
