The areas are looking good if you can afford. Apartments in Seattle are expensive – is one of the few cities United States, where home prices have fallen in the last 2 years. Get a place with all the things I put in the range 400 to $ 500 000 for a flat decent size. Wallingford is very close to the UW and a lot of what you are looking for, would be a good place to watch closely. It also condos in and around Ravenna Green Lake that will match perfectly, and the Capitol has some great neighborhoods (and is not exclusively gay, despite the reputation). Other areas mentioned farther the university area, and if you are a student from Washington University in West Seattle, which has some rooms and some neighborhoods, is a long journey. Queen Anne and Belltown (downtown) are expensive compared with other areas.
