How many are in different leagues of baseball?

I am Dutch and know very few sports baseball. I've heard of someone that it has signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners and played in the Rookie League. What is a rookie league? How many different leagues there and what is its purpose? If anyone can explain? Thank you!

First, there are two main categories, the Office for National and American leagues. Each major league team is in one of these links. However, each major league team has a number of calls from farm equipment. and these teams play at different levels. The best analogy I can think of with the concept of farm equipment and different levels championships, is a school system. One would be the rookie league (professional baseball) equivalent Garden childhood, the next level, a ball of school would be the primary school in AA ball was high and AAA ball is college or university, with the major leagues in the rest of his life. These farm equipment is a system supply for major league teams. At every level of professional baseball, there are at least two miles, but the rookie ball to AAA ball, are roughly along geographic lines.
