True Blood is an American television series created and produced by Alan Ball. It is based on the series of The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris. The program is broadcast on the HBO premium cable in the U.S.. It is produced by HBO in association with the production company balls, your face goes here Entertainment. The show's second season of 12 episodes in the first 14 June 2009. On 30 July 2009, confirmed that HBO True Blood will be renewed for a third season.Alan Ball said he plans to begin filming the third season before Christmas 2009.
True Blood details the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a small fictional town in Louisiana. The series centers on Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a telepathic waitress in a bar, falls in love with vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).
The first season has received critical acclaim and won several awards including a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
History of development
Series creator Alan Ball had previously worked with premium cable channel HBO on Six Feet Under, which lasted five seasons. In October 2005, after Six Feet Under Finale Ball has signed a two-year agreement with HBO to develop and produce original programming for the network. True Blood has become the the first project under the agreement, after the ball became familiar with books by Southern Vampire Mystery by Charlaine Harris. Marketing
The premiere of True Blood was preceded by a viral marketing / alternate reality game (ARG) campaign based BloodCopy.com. This included the creation of several websites, Coding the Web address in unmarked envelopes mailed to the good image of bloggers and others, and even the actions of the Vampires "" who tried to reach out to others of their species, to discuss the recent creation of "TruBlood", a fictitious drink that appears in the show. Cast and characters
True Blood employs a comprehensive integrated package of regular cast, the central characters and a rotating group of supporting characters transient.
