A. Many of us have friends that instead of reducing the races to follow. Some may be stressed by problems of cash for a new business. Others have suffered personal losses. If they feel scroogier than ever, we can understand.

You Do not limit your donations to socks and underwear (although a good friend May Welcome Eddie Bauer wool socks or Victoria Secret's delight). So, on request, here are some tips to combine fun and function for the holiday season.

Do not send Free e-card! Many of these sites collect email addresses for their own uses harmful.

Do not mail gift certificates: restaurant – even a delivery service pizza at amazon.com, magellan.com online stores and other office supplies business – Staples, Kinkos, OfficeMax

Tip: A friend is moving? Send a gift certificate to a store or restaurant in your new city. Send a season ticket for theater, ballet, symphony or Basketball – leave the house! (from my book, Making the Big Move)

Do not send gifts for pets. Catnip, animal waste, and gift certificates for all the prep work too. I have a dog bed in every room and Keesha never, ever tries to sit on furniture.

Do not send the coffee the demons of caffeine, lovers of wine and fruit baskets in Florida for the sane. My friends in Seattle Fresh roasted coffee beans sent one years. Mmm!

Enforce borders. Some people want to be alone on vacation, especially if they are single, recently relocated or mourning a loss. Keep it low key: "Please want to come and eat, let's have coffee More – if you wish. Do not bring a gift. Do not bring dogs. "

And I'll share a secret. Almost all I know is organizing a take-home part of the party. Always pretend to be for the cat. See my article on "celibacy on vacation."

And what if you are the cut? This can be a tough year and you do not feel the spirit of Christmas. Maybe you lost a friend or family member, temporarily or permanently. And receive more of influenza.

There is no easy bromides. Some people create their own rituals. Some find solace in the old rituals that they know so well. Do everything you can. Every time I say "I do not feel that this year, have usually been – a year later.

Tip: Write down your experiences, feelings and desires. Hide your writing at least six months. A year from now the world will be very, very different.
