Do I need a transit visa or a tourist visa for Canada if I take a cruise to Alaska from Seattle?
I am taking a cruise in Alaska Seattle and the 2-3 hour cruise stops in Victoria (Canada). I am a citizen of India on H1B visas in the U.S.. Should I apply for a tourist visa in Canada or the transit visa is sufficient? Thanks for your answers.
I think you need a tourist visa for Canada. The transit visa shall enter into the area port, but probably not allowed to leave the security zone and Victoria for shopping and sightseeing. The best people to ask what travel providers, which should have handled this situation before. The cruise line should have a link available for customers to contact you before embarking on the trip so that you can get this material from the road. You can contact the Canada Immigration Center if the cruise line are not the only ones who can answer this question for you. See the following links.
