Is it legal to paint a car out of my garden?

My friend painted his truck in the fenced in my yard when I got home from work. My girlfriend says its illegal to use the paint off the car. We live in Seattle, WA

Once more, I rarely agree with but UCANTCME I am under the impression that all automotive paints afloat, where's the beef with the EPA?
