Donating parts of wage?
I’m a high school junior, I live in Seattle, and I work as a cashier.
As a minor, I don’t make much (minimum wage), but I do donate bits of my wage to local causes. At the end of every month, I donate $75 dollars to the Seattle Animal Shelter, and I donate $100 dollars to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (they do research and stuff).
I have some older generation family members/family friends who mock or laugh at what I’m doing. They state things along the lines of, “you’re too idealistic” or “$75 dollars isn’t going to change anything.”
My question: I am torn between donating and not donating. I want to be seen as an adult, but it appears that if I continue to donate, I will still be seen as a child. Should I continue donating?
the mature and adult thing to do would be to continue doing what you want to do with your money.
its very rude of them to mock your donations.
if everyone gave $50/month to donations it would all add up and make a difference.
so you do make a difference.
